Abducted Girl Died of Multiple Injuries
Laura Arroyo, who disappeared from her San Ysidro home Wednesday evening when she went to answer a knock at the door, died of “multiple traumatic injuries,” the coroner’s office reported Friday night.
The 9-year-old, bludgeoned about the head and stabbed repeatedly on other parts of her body, was found early Thursday morning in a Chula Vista industrial area about 5 miles from her home.
The autopsy results will be forwarded to Chula Vista Police Department homicide investigators, and no further details will be made public by the medical examiner’s office, the spokesman said. The coroner’s office declined to say whether the girl was sexually assaulted.
Police had little progress to report Friday, but issued a description of a 1984 white Ford van reported stolen from the neighborhood where the little girl lived at about the time that she disappeared. The license number of the stolen van is 2J52445, police said, and it may have signs identifying it as belonging to Dependable Sewer and Drain Cleaning Service.
