Stairway to Geffen

The news that Geffen A&R; executive John Kalodner has teamed Jimmy Page and David Coverdale for a new album (Pop Eye, June 16) inspires the following, to be sung, obviously, to the tune of “Stairway to Heaven”:

There’s an exec who’s sure

All that glitters is old

And he walks on the staircase at Geffen

When you get him he knows

That the kids are pre-sold

This is the man who discovered Nelson

The songbird with mousse

Is a Whitesnake that sings

And he pairs him with Page’s aged fingers.

Why not Adam Ant as the

New Robert Plant?

Who cares who’s the new

Zeppelin singer?

We do.
