Gang Member Guilty of Airman’s Murder
A Compton gang member was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the Sept. 19 shooting death of an Air Force enlisted man as the airman sat in a car at a Torrance intersection with friends.
Jurors in Torrance Superior Court found Rickey Moore, 19, guilty of shooting Daryl J. Webb, 20, of Compton on Hawthorne Boulevard after Webb whistled at Moore’s girlfriend outside the South Bay Bowl in Redondo Beach.
Webb and three friends drove away from the bowling alley but were followed by Moore and his girlfriend. When the two cars pulled up to a stoplight, Moore fatally shot Webb in the chest. Moore was also convicted of three charges of attempted murder. He will be sentenced July 19.
