Robert O’Byrne; Founded Theater Workshop

Robert O’Byrne, 75, founder and producer of off-Broadway theater group called ABBE Workshop. The Long Island, N.Y., group introduced playwrights and beginning actors, often directed by O’Byrne’s wife, Gloria Monty, who now produces television’s “General Hospital.” The son of a New York judge and a theater producer, O’Byrne was educated at St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York. On Tuesday in Los Angeles of a heart attack.
