ORANGE COUNTY ALL-STAR FOOTBALL GAME : North Opens Practice for July 12 Game; South Starts Thursday
Daily practice sessions for the North team that will participate in the 32nd Orange County All-Star football game begin at 5 p.m. today at Brea-Olinda High School.
North Coach Jon Looney of Brea-Olinda will conduct practice sessions Monday through Friday until July 2. Looney has scheduled an intrasquad scrimmage at 5 p.m. July 3, and then will resume workouts on July 8.
The North team features three players from Sunny Hills’ Division VI championship team--defensive back Mike Sullivan, fullback Kenny Overby and offensive lineman Jeff Hicks. Quarterbacks Keith McDonald of Esperanza and John Collins of Los Alamitos will vie for the starting position.
The South team will begin practices at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Capistrano Valley High. The team will work out at 4:30 on weekdays, and will practice at at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays. South Coach Eric Patton of Capistrano Valley announced an intrasquad scrimmage will be held on July 5 at 4:30 p.m.
The South team features El Toro quarterback Rob Johnson, who was The Times Orange County player of the year, and four players from Capistrano Valley’s Division II championship team--wide receiver Dave Poltl, linebacker Motor Mosebrook and defensive backs Bernie Chapman and Jeremy Brion.
The Orange County All-Star game is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 12 at Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium.
