The Netherlands, which won the world women’s water polo championship last January, will play Italy today in the opening round of the VII FINA World Cup at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.
The United States will meet Brazil in the 8 p.m. feature game of the eight-team tournament. Other pairings today are Australia vs. New Zealand and Canada vs. Japan. The final will be Sunday.
