Divac’s Agent Says Vlade Loves L.A. and Isn’t Planning a Move to Italy
Vlade Divac’s agent Monday denied a report that Divac wants to play in Italy after his Laker contract ends next year.
“He loves L.A.,” said Marc Fleisher from New York. “He’s very happy and comfortable there.”
Divac, playing for the Yugoslav national team in the European championships in Rome, wasn’t available for comment.
Such reports are common for European players. In February, Divac denied a similar one.
Said Fleisher: “I never believe a word I read in the Italian papers. The last time I was there, they wrote a story about the mere fact that I was in Italy, concluding that Vlade was going to sign with an Italian team.”
The Miami Heat exercised its option to take the Lakers’ No. 2 pick in 1992, rather than this season, so the Lakers will have one choice--52nd of the 54 overall--Wednesday.
The Heat got the option for not selecting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 1989 expansion draft, allowing the Lakers to leave him off their protected list.
The Lakers traded their No. 1 pick in this draft to Golden State for Terry Teagle.
