President Bush at Caltech

I found it wonderfully ironic that on Page A3 (June 17) there were two such complementary stories. On the one hand (“Bush and Wiesenthal Center Pay Tribute to Actor Schwarzenegger”) President Bush is reported assuring an audience raising funds for a Museum of Tolerance sponsored by the Simon Wiesenthal Center that “the Holocaust must never be dehumanized or dismissed. We pledge it will also never be forgotten.”

Meanwhile an adjoining story (“Workers Find Better Jobs but Not Prosperity”) foretells “a glimpse into the future” if the United States and Mexico conclude a free-trade agreement, a future for workers that can only have found its precedent in those never-to-be-forgotten Nazi concentration camps.
