Council Approves Higher Sewer Fees : SIMI VALLEY
Simi Valley residents and business owners will soon see an increase in their monthly sewer fees.
The City Council voted Monday to increase sewer rates for homeowners from $10.22 to $12.58 monthly. Monthly service fees for those living in apartments will rise from $7.66 to $9.44, while those living in senior citizen housing or mobile homes will see a jump from $6.13 to $7.55.
The council approved similar increases for commercial and industrial customers, whose monthly fees are based on the specific amount of waste water discharged into the city’s sewer lines.
In addition, sewer connection fees for single family houses and businesses will increase from $2,278 to $2,331.
Sewer fees and connection charges are adjusted annually by the council based on the rate of inflation and the rise in construction costs.
The new rates will become effective July 31, city officials said.
