Hacienda Heights : Cityhood Papers Submitted
Cityhood Committee members have collected 6,700 signatures, 1,000 more than the 25% of registered voters required, as the first step in putting a cityhood measure on the ballot in November, 1992.
The committee plans to submit the paperwork to the Local Agency Formation Commission on Friday. After verifying its accuracy, LAFCO will schedule a public hearing.
If LAFCO approves the petition, it will go before the Board of Supervisors, which will decide whether to put the cityhood measure on the ballot. Only voters in Hacienda Heights would take part in the election.
The committee raised more than $20,000 to campaign for cityhood; its goal is $25,000. About $15,000 will be used to pay for processing the application, which includes a feasibility study and signature verification.
