The nation’s oldest working jockey was suspended Wednesday for 30 days for reckless riding, Charles Town Races officials said.

William (Willie) Clark, 69, will be barred from racing until July 26 because of his actions in Monday’s third race at Charles Town, the track said.

The stewards said that Clark’s mount, Miss Pointy, interfered with Honey Be Gallant, Out ‘Til Three and Jefferson County at the start. Miss Pointy finished fifth but was disqualified.

Clark contended his saddle slipped as Miss Pointy left the gate, preventing him from controlling the horse.
