Fire Stations to Stock Disaster Supplies
MISSION VIEJO — The City Council this week approved $22,500 for three disaster-supply sites.
Three fire stations will receive Medical Disaster Response containers filled with medical supplies to be used in the event of catastrophe. The facilities are at 25826 Marguerite Parkway, 22426 Olympiad Road and 26312 Via Curacion.
The caches contain enough medical supplies to treat 25 critically injured people in a disaster situation.
The nonprofit program was initiated in March, 1989, by a pair of South County physicians, who are negotiating with several cities in the county to provide the emergency supply kits.
