Sudafed Capsules to Be Sold Outside U.S.: Millions of cold capsules that were withheld by the manufacturer after three incidents of cyanide poisoning will be distributed outside the United States, Burroughs Wellcome Co. said. U.S. District Judge Robert J. Bryan granted the pharmaceutical company’s request to sell, donate or otherwise dispose of more than 28 million cold capsules that had not left Burroughs’ possession at the time of a nationwide recall in March. The capsules that were recalled from stores won’t be distributed. U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials checked the Burroughs plant and became convinced that the tampering occurred after the cold medicine left the company.
