San Dimas : Smaller Budget Adopted

The City Council has adopted a $16.3-million budget for the city and its Redevelopment Agency, more than $2 million lower than last year’s budget.

The city’s portion of the budget is $12.8 million and the Redevelopment Agency’s is $3.5 million.

Loss of county funding and fewer capital improvement projects contributed to the smaller 1991-92 fiscal year budget, which includes a controversial plan to close the city swimming pool from September to June. The closure would save the city $18,000.

Two weeks ago, students at San Dimas High School, whose swim and water polo teams use the pool for practice and competition, protested the closure.

On Tuesday, the council agreed to resume discussions in August on ways to keep the pool open.
