The California Department of Health Services began an investigation of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, the Oxnard hospital where a 15-year-old girl gave birth Monday to a premature baby girl and placed her in a trash can, where she later was found dead, department spokeswoman Lana Pimbley said. The unidentified girl was taken to the emergency room by her mother, complaining of leg pain. After emergency room staff took her pulse and blood pressure, the girl excused herself and went to the restroom, where she delivered the baby.
