A teen-age boy was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting early Saturday.

Police were searching for suspects in the shooting, which occurred about 12:15 a.m.

Seventeen-year-old Leonard Lopez was struck in the head when several shots were fired in the 900 block of Gonzales Street. Paramedics took him to Placentia-Linda Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Lt. Charles Babcock said.

Babcock described the shooting as “probably gang-related.”

Gonzales Street resident Veronica Gonzales, 16, said she was watching television when she heard the shots. “I ran outside but I didn’t see anything . . . just a bunch of guys standing in front of someone’s house.”

Another Gonzales Street resident said she was coming home from work early Saturday when an ambulance sped down her street and around the corner.
