Nation IN BRIEF : VIRGINIA : Soldier Convicted of Breaking Sex Policy

An AIDS-infected soldier accused of having unprotected sex with five women was convicted in Newport News, Va., of disobeying an Army order requiring sexual safeguards and that partners be notified. Specialist Kenneth A. Schoolfield, 24, of Columbus, Ohio, also was found guilty by a military judge of sodomy, aggravated assault and committing an indecent act. The convictions brought a 15-year prison term and a dishonorable discharge. Army policy prohibits soldiers who carry the virus from having intercourse without a condom and requires them to notify potential sex partners of their condition.
