Pomona : Pushcart Licensing Studied
The City Council, delaying action on a proposed ban on street vendors and pushcarts, is looking into the possibility of licensing them instead.
The council, which last month tentatively approved an ordinance outlawing the vendors, on Monday instructed city staff members to survey other cities to find out how they regulate pushcarts.
Councilwoman Paula Lantz suggested that a way can be found to license vendors and obtain their compliance with health regulations.
If pushcart vendors pay business license fees and sell food that meets health standards, Lantz said, they should be allowed in the city.
