ORANGE : 67th Assembly Race Hopefuls Get Forum
The Legislative Coalition of the Orange Unified School District will host a public forum for 67th Assembly District candidates on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The 67th Assembly District seat became vacant when former Assemblyman John R. Lewis (R-Orange) replaced Republican John Seymour, now a U.S. senator, in the state Senate.
Seven candidates will vie for the seat in a July 23 special election. They are: Republican Party activist Mickey Conroy of Santa Ana; William Earl, a Tustin businessman; Tracy Gaffey, a professor from Tustin; former Tustin Councilman John Kelly; Councilman Harold H. Saldarini of Villa Park; Councilman William G. Steiner of Orange, and Gregory Ramsay, a Santa Ana health care manager. Ramsay is the only Democrat in the race.
The 67th Assembly District sprawls from Yorba Linda south to El Toro, and from Silverado Canyon west into Orange.
The forum will be held in the Orange Unified board room at 370 N. Glassell St. in downtown Orange.
For more information call Gayle Wayne, director of community relations at Orange Unified, at (714) 997-6141, or Kathy Moffat of the Legislative Coalition at (714) 998-6164.
