2 Remain in Hospital After Pacoima Fire
A man and woman remained hospitalized Saturday from injuries they suffered in a fire that gutted their Pacoima home, authorities said.
The blaze broke out about 11 p.m. Friday in the house in the 13400 block of Gager Street and was extinguished about 20 minutes later, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Pat Marek.
The couple, both about 65, were taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Their identities were not released.
Marek said the woman, who suffered smoke inhalation and burns, was in critical condition, but was improving.
The man also suffered from smoke inhalation and cuts and was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the house and $50,000 to its contents, Marek said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, but “we’re not looking at anything suspicious,” Marek said.
