WESTMINSTER : Youth Held After Man Is Shot in Back
A Westminster teen-ager was held on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man in the back during a fight at a party, police said Sunday.
The 16-year-old boy, whose identity was withheld because of his age, was in custody at Orange County Juvenile Hall after witnesses identified him as the alleged gunman, Police Lt. Andrew Hall said.
Police said the victim, Kenneth Hagin, 21, of Huntington Beach, was at a party in the 7700 block of 15th St. when a fight broke out at 10:30 p.m Saturday. During the fight, four or five other teen-agers attacked Hagin and stabbed him at least four times, Hall said.
“While (Hagin) lay on the ground, the 16-year-old suspect came up and shot him once on the back,” Hall said.
Hagin was in stable condition Sunday at Humana Hospital-Westminster, a hospital official said. The four other teen-agers who allegedly attacked Hagin were also taken to Juvenile Hall, police said.
