Happy 80th: Gian Carlo Menotti, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, director and impresario, showed no signs of slowing down as he celebrated his 80th birthday with a surprise appearance in one of his operas in Spoleto, Italy. Menotti made a cameo appearance Sunday in the first scene of his most recent opera, “Goya,” in its European debut at the Festival of the Two Worlds, which Menotti founded 34 years ago.
