PerfectData Buys Assets of Modem Manufacturer
PerfectData Corp., a Simi Valley maker of computer maintenance products, said it has bought the assets of Anchor Automation Inc. of Chatsworth for $250,000 in a foreclosure sale.
Anchor Automation made modems for personal computers, but its fortunes had grown steadily worse since 1985, PerfectData said. Nonetheless, PerfectData said the U.S. market for modems such as those made by Anchor Automation “is expected to increase substantially.” (Modems transmit data between computer systems via telephone lines, among other uses.)
PerfectData said it bought the company’s inventories, manufacturing equipment, accounts receivable, licenses and trademarks, but did not assume any Anchor Automation debts.
