COUNTYWIDE : Equestrians to Ride in Special Olympics

Handicapped athletes from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties will compete in the Special Olympics annual equestrian competition Saturday at the Ventura County Fairgrounds’ Morgan Arena.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m., followed by events such as pole-bending and jumping preparedness. The events will end at 3:30 p.m., spokeswoman Carol Newsham said.

Participants ranging in age from 12 to 40 will ride in the annual event, Newsham said.
