3-Plane Collision Kills 4, Stirs Investigation
Associated Press
QUINCY, Ill. — Federal investigators Monday were interviewing witnesses to a collision of three small planes that were flying in formation. One of the planes crashed and all four people aboard it were killed.
Adams County Sheriff Robert Nall said the other two planes, both damaged, flew on to Missouri without landing after the mishap Sunday. The three craft had just taken off from Quincy Municipal Airport.
Nall said that one of the surviving pilots told authorities he could not turn his plane back because the damage had caused steering problems.
