A could-be millionaire kissed a fortune goodby Monday. State lottery officials said a $2.7-million prize drawn one year ago remained uncollected when a deadline passed for claims at the close of business Monday.

The winning ticket was sold in the Chicago area and drawn on July 7, 1990. The money automatically reverted to an unclaimed-prize fund, which is returned to lottery players in the form of special prizes and other promotions, lottery spokesman Mike Lang said.
