American League umpire Steve Palermo was improving and doctors upgraded his condition from serious to fair one day after he was shot in Dallas while trying to aid two robbery victims.
Palermo’s wounds are not considered life-threatening.
A Parkland Hospital spokeswoman said Palermo didn’t exhibit any signs of paralysis on Sunday night. Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said: “That’s not something we can speculate on at this time.”
In Toronto, the site of Tuesday night’s All-Star game, Bobby Brown, American League president, said: “I must confess, our thoughts are really in Dallas. (Palermo’s condition) is still guarded. We still don’t know much about his recovery time. We hope it will be brief.”
