General Motors to Install Safety Features: Anti-lock brakes, a system which allows the driver to maintain control of a vehicle’s steering under heavy breaking, will be available on 84% of General Motors Corp.’s 1992 model cars, GM President Lloyd Reuss said. The braking system will be standard on many of GM’s small car models. Driven by customer demand and No. 3 auto maker Chrysler Corp.’s success in marketing air bags, GM also said it will include driver-side air bags in all of its cars sold in North America by the fall of 1994, a year earlier than it had originally planned.
