TERESA MAUCK
Swimming
At 14, Teresa Mauck is one of the youngest entrants in the Festival swimming competition and one of three who have yet to enter high school.
Mauck was the first women’s pick by North Coach Rob Orr in the NFL-style draft conducted for the Festival by USA Swimming Inc., the national governing body of the sport.
The daughter of Carl Mauck, an NFL veteran who is now an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Teresa is closing in on the qualifying time for the 1992 U.S. Olympic trials in the 200-meter individual medley.
She needs to shave two-tenths of a second off her best time to reach the standard of 2 minutes 21.29 seconds.
The 5-foot-5, 140-pounder from Overland Park, Kan., ranks highest nationally in the 400 individual medley following a 15th-place effort April 5 at Spring Nationals in Federal Way, Wash.
Mauck also is adept in the 200 and 400 freestyle events.
