The staff of Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center welcomed back one of their own Tuesday after service in the Persian Gulf War. Nancy J. Sumner, captain in the California Air National Guard Nurse Corps, was on active duty for six months as an air evacuation nurse in Operation Desert Storm. She flew hundreds of patients in more than 30 missions, including a five-day side trip to evacuate Americans during the Somalian revolution. She is back on the job in the hospital’s emergency room.
* Occidental College librarian Jacquelyn McCoy has been elected president of the Assn. of College and Research Libraries for 1992-93. The association, the largest division of the American Library Assn., serves as a resource for academic, research and special libraries. McCoy has written books and articles on bibliographic instruction and college library standards.
* Sharon Flynn Grigsby, a resident of Los Feliz, has been elected national chairwoman of the Visiting Nurse Assns. of America. She has been president of the nonprofit Visiting Nurse Assn. of Los Angeles since 1984. The national association is made up of 143 home care agencies in 34 states.
