NEWBURY PARK : Crime Stoppers Offers Reward
The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of two men suspected of fleeing the area to avoid prosecution on drug charges.
On May 23, police arrested Luis Felipe Farfan, 25, and Ernesto Jose Garcia-Calvo, 24, both of Newbury Park, after an anonymous caller said the two were dealing drugs from their residence on Ramona Drive, Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Lathrop said.
Because of a paperwork mix-up, the men were released a few days later, but warrants were issued when the two failed to appear in Ventura County Municipal Court for a hearing, said Sheriff’s Deputy Kitty Hoberg, who coordinates the nonprofit Crime Stoppers Program.
Bail for the men has been set at $20,000 each, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 805-494-TALK, she said. Callers may remain anonymous.
The Crime Stoppers Program also is offering a reward for help in identifying individuals who have stolen stereo equipment from cars in Newbury Park. The reward will be paid if information leads to a criminal complaint.
More than 20 thefts have been reported in the past three weeks from locked cars in the area, police said. The thefts were mostly from Toyotas, Nissans and Ranger pickups.
