Bicyclist Is Killed After Hitting Hydrant
A bicyclist was killed Wednesday evening as he pedaled in the wrong lane, struck a curb and landed on a fire hydrant, San Diego police said.
The bicyclist, whose name had not been released Wednesday evening, was traveling on Pringle Street near Kettner Boulevard when he swerved to avoid a car at 5:14 p.m. The man, in his 40s, struck a curb, flew into the air and landed atop the hydrant.
He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
