Pfund Decides to Stay With Lakers
Randy Pfund has turned down a lucrative offer from Coach Pat Riley of the New York Knicks and will remain in Los Angeles as an assistant, the Lakers announced Wednesday.
The Lakers offered Pfund an extended contract late in the 1990-91 season, but he deferred a decision while considering Riley’s offer.
Pfund was an assistant when Riley coached the Lakers.
According to New York Newsday, the Knicks were prepared to offer Pfund nearly $250,000 a year over five years.
