Tiger Woods of Cypress was second Wednesday after one round of the Las Vegas Founders’ Legacy Junior tournament at Henderson, Nev.
Woods shot a two-under-par 70 and trailed Anthony Rodriguez of San Antonio by one shot in the American Junior Golf Assn. event.
Joe Garner of El Toro and Joe Acosta of Visalia were tied for third at 72.
Ben Garner of El Toro led the boys’ 13-14 division at 70.
In the girls’ division, Mitzi Krivanek of La Quinta shot a 76 and was tied for second with Shelly Santos of Houston, six shots behind Jennifer Biehn of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Brian Dawson, a running back from Cypress High School, has withdrawn from the North team for the Orange County all-star football game, North Coach Jon Looney said.
Looney, who coaches at Brea-Olinda High, said Dawson had a groin injury and stopped attending practices before calling to say he wouldn’t be playing.
Rob Logoteta, a 5-foot-7, 180-pound defensive lineman from Brea-Olinda, has been added to the North roster for Friday’s game at LeBard Stadium.

The UC Irvine women’s volleyball team received an $8,000 scholarship from an Anaheim wholesale lumber company, Irvine Coach Mike Puritz said.
Industrial Forest Products owners Steve Baugh and Mark Herms, who played in and sponsored grass volleyball tournaments at UCI, said they wanted to increase their support after learning of the athletic department’s recent budget cuts.
