If You Miss This Eclipse. . .
Most people start getting excited about celestial events right as they’re about to happen, but far too late to make arrangements to get to the best place to see them.
Don’t despair: There’s a great annular or ringlike eclipse set for Jan. 4, 1992, and Los Angeles is the best place to see it. The sun will set in Los Angeles that Saturday while almost completely eclipsed.
According to the Griffith Observatory, other eclipses in the near and not-so-near future:
* May 10, 1994: an annular eclipse, best seen from Baja, California, northern Mexico, Texas, Illinois, New York and New England.
* Aug. 1, 2008: a total eclipse, best seen north of the Arctic Circle.
* Aug. 21, 2017: a total eclipse, best seen in central Oregon through Missouri and South Carolina.
