Teen-Ager Killed in Attack Outside Liquor Store
A teen-age gang member was shot and killed and two of his friends were wounded Friday in a drive-by attack in the parking lot of a Koreatown liquor store, police said.
Jose Jimenez, 17, was pronounced dead at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center shortly after the 12:30 a.m. shooting at AM/PM Mini-Mart at 3817 West 3rd St., Los Angeles Police Detective Charles Salazar said. Two other boys--one 14, and another whose age was unknown--were also wounded. The boys, whose names were withheld, were in serious condition at an undisclosed hospital.
The three boys were walking across the parking lot when a vehicle occupied by two youths about age 17 drove up to them from the opposite direction. “The driver fired at them using a small-caliber handgun,” wounding all three, Salazar said.
