3 Men Sought in Arson at Convenience Store
Investigators were searching Friday for three men suspected of arson in a Saugus convenience store fire that caused about $100,000 in damage.
Firefighters extinguished the 5:45 a.m. blaze at 5-Ten Mini Mart and Delicatessen at 25845 San Fernando Road in about 20 minutes, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. David Moore said. No one was injured.
A passing motorist reportedly noticed a bright flash inside the shop and then saw two men running to a car driven by a third man, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mitch Clark said. The motorist reported the incident. Firefighters arrived to find small fires burning at several spots inside the shop, Moore said.
A 5-gallon tank of gasoline had been tipped over and was ablaze at the shop’s entrance, Moore said. Neither Moore nor Clark would speculate on a motive for the fire.
