Robert Guelich; Author, Professor at Fuller Seminary
Robert A. Guelich, a professor of the New Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 52.
Guelich, who lived in Claremont, died July 3 while writing at his cabin on Lake Vermillion in Minnesota. He was a pastor and a seminary professor in Minnesota before joining Fuller in 1988.
Best known for his 1982 book, “The Sermon on the Mount, a Foundation for Understanding,” Guelich had also published the first volume of a two-part commentary on the Gospel of Mark. He held a doctorate in theology from the University of Hamburg.
William Dyrness, dean of Fuller’s School of Theology, praised Guelich as “an outstanding teacher who was concerned with the total development of his students.”
