CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : VICTORVILLE : Deputy Arrested in Alleged Rape
A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was arrested for investigation of rape of a woman he arrested. The woman called 911 from jail to report the alleged attack, authorities said. Curtis Albright, 26, of Apple Valley, was taken into custody in Victorville on Thursday, said Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Klootwyk. He was booked and released on $5,001 bail. Albright reportedly arrested an Apple Valley woman early on July 4 for investigation of petty theft after a convenience store clerk said that a customer took a beer without paying for it. The woman alleged that Albright took her to a field and raped her en route to jail. The Victorville district attorney’s office filed three felony charges against Albright--bribery, rape, and assault under color of authority.
