‘Power Eating’ Leaves Readers Hungry

“Power Eating” should be a continuing series. What about the curious customs of power eating in education?

True, when lunch is always from 12:26 until 1:02, the choices for location are less varied. Yet, teachers have been known “to whimper”--waiting to use a copy machine while eating a peanut butter sandwich. Administrators have been known “to plead”--for students to stop stomping on packaged ketchup. Students have been known “to grovel”--for a ride with friends to the nearest fried chicken franchise.

And everyone is known “to cringe”--when that bell rings down the curtain on the “frenzied” lunch period.
