Diego’s Drinking
In the July 1 edition, there was an article by John M. Glionna about a Solana Beach City Council meeting where residents vocalized their protests against the noise, rowdiness, etc. associated with Diego’s Surfside. (“City Tells Solana Beach Nightclub to Face the Music.”)
The most amazing statement in the whole story came from Diego’s Surfside night manager, Manny Correia. He was quoted by Mr. Glionna in the third-to-last paragraph:
“On Thursday night we get 100 drunks in here. And I don’t mean just buzzed drunk. I mean hammered. These guys drink. Maybe they get too intoxicated.”
I am sure Diego’s Surfside management is aware of California Code No. 2560 (Business and Professions Code), which states that owners, lessees, employees are not to serve any alcohol to a person who is obviously intoxicated.
The No. 1 question is: Does “hammered” fall under the above definition?
The No. 2 question is: Do all these “hammered drunks” walk home?
