Catalina Settlers
In your article about desalination on Santa Catalina Island, you say Portuguese explorers discovered Catalina in 1542 (Part B, June 25). How can that be true when American Indians were living on the island for thousands of years before that?
Aren’t we past the point of discounting American Indians and their achievements?
