One firefighter was slightly injured while battling an apartment blaze in downtown San Diego that authorities said caused significant structural damage.

The fire broke out about 1:45 a.m. Sunday at a four-unit, two-story apartment building in the 2300 block of 1st Avenue, fire officials said. No occupants were hurt in the blaze, which caused more than $180,000 in structural damage.

The firefighter was injured when a large piece of plaster fell on his head as he walked through the building, fire officials said. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
