NOTEBOOK
The Festival baseball teams have been practicing at USC against teams from Fullerton and Saddleback community colleges, as well as a few Orange County Connie Mack teams.
Sunday, Angel pitcher Bert Blyleven’s son, Todd, pitched for the Orange Country Cardinals against the Festival East team. A right-hander like his father, Todd shut down the East for four innings before giving way to another pitcher.
In another game Sunday, former Angel Doug DeCinces’s son, Doug Jr., was hit in the face when a ball took a bad hop. He was taken to a hospital to check for broken bones. DeCinces was playing for the Orange County Cubs, who are coached by his father.
The Associated Press contributed to this notebook.
