BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Scout Is Watching Brewers’ Bosio

The Angels have a scout watching Milwaukee Brewer right-hander Chris Bosio as they continue their search for a fifth starter. Richard Brown, Angel president, said that he would prefer not to give up a prospect such as left-hander Kyle Abbott, who is 9-5 for triple-A Edmonton, but he said a decision would depend on whom the Angels would acquire.

“For (the Cleveland Indians’) Greg Swindell, I’d give up a lot more than (for) somebody else,” said Brown, who was told by the Indians that Swindell isn’t available.

Center fielder Junior Felix received medical clearance to jog for the first time since going on the disabled list for the second time this season because of a strained right calf muscle. Felix hasn’t played since June 9. . . . Kirk McCaskill, who pitched eight shutout innings against the Baltimore Orioles Monday night but didn’t get a victory because of Chito Martinez’s ninth-inning homer against Bryan Harvey, was reluctant to discuss the game. “The more I play baseball, the more I realize there’s not a whole lot original to say,” he said. “Why evaluate? Why ask why?”
