AMR Corp.: The parent of American Airlines, based at Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, said it ended six months of recession-induced red ink with a small second-quarter profit of $10.3 million, down 92% from a year ago. Revenue climbed 10% to $3.2 billion. AMR said that although these are very unsatisfactory results, the second quarter was far better than the previous two quarters, when it lost $411.5 million as high fuel costs and sagging traffic caused by recession and war extracted a heavy toll.
