Mary Lee Gray, defeated last month by incumbent Ruth Galanter in a runoff election for Los Angeles’ 6th City Council District, has left her job as an aide to County Supervisor Deane Dana to become associate administrator of the county’s Long Beach Comprehensive Health Center.

In her new post, Gray will be involved in the overall administrative operation of the outpatient health facility. There are nearly 100 employees at the health center. Her salary is $69,200 a year, which is about the same as she earned as a senior deputy for Dana.

“It is a good time to move on. This new position will allow me an opportunity for professional growth and development,” Gray said.

Gray, 50, had worked for Dana about 10 years. Before that, she served as a deputy for former County Supervisors Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and James Hayes. She took a leave of absence from Dana’s office during her council candidacy.
