Agribusiness Seeks Protection: Riverbend International Corp. of Sanger, Calif., one of the state’s leading farming-food processing firms, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after a demand by lenders for repayment of $59 million of loans. The firm said there are no plans to lay off any of its 250 employees. However, Terence J. Long has been named president and chief executive, replacing Peter E. Weber.
