2 Boys Shot During Dispute Over Radio
A teen-ager and a 6-year-old bystander were both shot Friday in a dispute over a radio, San Diego police said.
The shooting occurred at 6:42 p.m. when a boy believed to be about 12 years old approached a second youth, about 16, in the 4100 block of Altadena Avenue in Rolando.
The 12-year-old demanded the teen-ager’s radio and, when the teen-ager refused to turn it over, the boy pulled out a small-caliber handgun and shot the teen-ager in the thigh.
When the teen-ager tried to escape by running down the street, the boy followed him, firing four more shots. One of the bullets struck a bystander, a 6-year-old boy, in the leg.
The victims were hospitalized, but their injuries are not life-threatening, police said.
The boy with the gun fled after the shooting.
