Israeli Flag Maker Prepares for Assad

JERUSALEM — Middle East peace is far from sewn up, but flag maker Chaim Liman has put his factory to work making banners in readiness for a possible visit by Syrian President Hafez Assad.
Liman said his Tel Aviv factory has produced 50 Syrian flags so he will not be unprepared for a state visit by Assad, Israel’s strongest enemy, as he was when Egyptian President Anwar Sadat made his dramatic visit in 1977.
